Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment. This role involves supporting the daily activities within the nursery, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, and fostering their development through engaging play and educational experiences.

Duties

• Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
• Supervise children during playtime, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster positive relationships.
• Support children in their daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and personal care.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the nursery space, including toys and equipment.
• Observe children's behaviour and development, providing feedback to senior staff as necessary.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive team atmosphere.

Experience

• Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is required.
• Level 3 CCLD required.
• Strong leadership skills to manage small groups of children effectively.
• A genuine passion for childcare and the ability to drive engaging activities that support children's growth.
• Experience in managing children's behaviour positively and constructively.

Nursery Leader Person Specification:

• To provide and co-ordinate a Nursery provision for children aged 2 to 3 years in the Flying Start area includes attending Providers meetings on behalf the setting

• Hold the relevant Qualifications in Early Years/ Childcare Learning and Development Minimum Level 5
• A minimum of 2 years-experience of working within a Childcare setting
• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation stage / Curriculum of Wales / CIW regulations and inspection criteria
• To make sure children experience a wide range of creative and experimental play opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment.
• To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in their care

• Ensure an effective partnership is developed between the home, the childcare setting and with other organisations/ services in the Flying Start programme.

• To ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted
• To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

• Excellent Communication skills through the medium of Welsh
• The ability to motivate and support staff
• Problem-solving skills, punctual, reliable
• Have empathy and understanding of families within the Community
• The ability to use your own judgement to make decisions
• Organizational skills and financial management skills
• Car driver/ Welsh speaker is desirable for this post
