Adam Price MS Visits CYCA as part of Leaders Tour
CYCA CEO hosts politicians and funders

National Lottery funding brings hope to children and families in Carmarthenshire and politicians have seen first-hand the work this funding has enabled, supporting children and families throughout lockdown, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Adam Price MS, Leader of Plaid Cymru, Helen Mary Jones MS and Dafydd Llywelyn Police and Crime Commissioner embarked on a fact-finding tour of CYCA (Connecting Youth, Children and Adults) yesterday. CYCA provides wellbeing support for families and children throughout Carmarthenshire. The charity provides counselling, mentoring, nurseries and after school clubs for children as well as workshops for parents to help them become more resilient. The current project has worked with 60 families. Lee Waters MS and Nia Griffiths MP, will also visit CYCA tomorrow as part of the official launch by the Police and Crime Commissioner

With funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, they have been able to continue supporting families and children online throughout lockdown and whilst social distancing measures are still in place.

Tracy Pike MBE, CEO of CYCA, commented;
We were delighted to welcome Adam Price MS to CYCA to see the support we offer to Carmarthenshire communities. COVID-19 and the lockdown has created challenges, but we have been able to innovate and adapt to continue supporting families throughout these unique circumstances. We are delighted to host the visit at our brand-new Centre of Excellence as well as rebrand the charity to become Connecting Youth Children and Adults.
“Many of our services have moved online and face-to-face sessions have been re-introduced at a reduced rate
.”

John Rose, Director for Wales at The National Lottery Community Fund, commented;
Tracy and the team at CYCA play an important role in their community. It has been wonderful to see and hear how funding from The National Lottery Community Fund has enabled them to support young people in Carmarthenshire throughout the lockdown period and make a positive difference to their lives in these challenging times.
