Genesis Mobile Creche Workers
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Fixed term contract or secondment until 28/2/08.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide flexible childcare at a range of locations in Carmarthenshire in support of the Genesis Project.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:-

To provide a safe and stimulating childcare/play environment in which children are able to play freely in order to ensure crèche support for training sessions.

To plan, prepare and deliver activities, which meet children’s individual developmental needs to deliver appropriate play experiences.

To work as part of a team and be prepared to undertake appropriate training to ensure delivery of quality care.

To follow guidelines and procedures for child protection as recommended by the registering authority and administer first aid as appropriate in order to ensure safety at all times.

To ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met by maintaining appropriate records and to work within an agreed budget as determined by the Genesis Coordinator in order to meet project requirements.

To assist in the setting up of systems and processes for effective record keeping in line with legal requirements and grant conditions.

To ensure that all records are regularly updated.

To adhere to Data Protection requirements.

To attend internal and external meetings as necessary, to ensure the successful delivery and development of the service.

To ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with Equal Opportunities Legislation in order to meet the guidelines of the Wales European Funding Office and the Welsh Assembly Government.

To be able to physically care for and meet the social and emotional needs of children in various childcare settings.

To work closely with organisations in the private/public/voluntary sectors.

To assist the Mobile Childcare Coordinator to undertake Risk Assessments of venues to be used for childcare and to undertake the personal Health and Safety responsibilities within H.A.S.A.W.A. ensuring safe systems of work are complied with.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:-

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

Understanding of Equal Opportunities Procedures

Understanding of Office Procedures
-
Experience of working in childcare or related situation
-
Knowledge of child development
-
Experience of planning and recording sessions
-
Experience of working within the framework of the Children's Act in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
-
Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
-
Basic knowledge of current early years and childcare issues
-
Effective verbal and written communication skills
-
To be able to work on own initiative and flexibly and co-operatively as part of a team
-
Ability to work in partnership with parents and carers
-
Be able to demonstrate and enthusiastic and developmental approach

Be able to accept advice and guidance and participate meaningfully in the advisory process

Be able to meet and liaise with the Line Manager when appropriate

The ability to travel within Carmarthenshire in an effective and cost-effective way

To have an understanding and commitment to the principle of confidentiality
