Securing futures celebrate another year of funding from the big lottery

We have secured another year of funding from the BIG Lottery, this funding will give us the opportunity to support many more families with the Securing Futures Project until May 2017. The project began in May 2012 and was funded for four years by the BIG Lottery in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council. We are now in our fourth year and we have supported over 200 families across Carmarthenshire.

The extra funding from BIG, will not only let us continue our existing support to the community, it will also enable CYA to become an accredited training centre, giving families the opportunity to learn new skill and to encourage parents/carers back into training, education and paid employment.

In 2015 we successfully implemented a programme of support in three Primary School in Llanelli via our experience of early intervention. The extra funding will allow us to continue our success starting in Morfa Primary School for the new term in September 2015. We will be offering a menu of support to the children and parents/carers. We will be looking at providing strategies to the families to help them understand behaviour and to improve relationships at home and in school.

This will include understanding disorganised attachments and building resiliency. The development of our ‘Interactive Support Gateway’ website, has also enabled us to be flexible in our support and this will allow many more families to access our services and receive direct online support with a trained member of the team. There are also many resources readily available for the families to download.
