CYCA receive £5000 grant from Police Commissioner’s Fund

Police Commissioner Fund We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a £5000 grant from the Dyfed Powys Police Commissioner’s Fund. The fund was set up by the Commissioner as a means of supporting charities, voluntary organisations and community groups to develop ideas that have a positive impact on the area they serve.

The grant will fund CYCA’s new project, Breaking Cycles, which will provide support for fathers whilst in prison and on release, helping them build relationships with their children through providing both parenting support sessions as well as mentoring for the children themselves. This approach will complement the existing work of IOM (Integrated Offender Management) looking at the whole family, rather than dealing with the offender in isolation.

CYCA Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Pike is delighted with the news

“We are extremely grateful to the Police Commissioner for awarding us with the grant. Our Breaking Cycles project, will allow us to carry out some ground breaking work, enabling us to implement our experience and expertise of family emotional health and wellbeing support to fathers who have offended, helping them build relationships with their children.”

CYCA’s new Breaking Cycles project will commence at the end of 2013.
