CYCA Manager Tracy Pike expressed her delight and pride at the official launch of CYCA's latest BIG lottery funded project, 'Securing Futures'. The project, which actually began operating a year earlier has been carrying out 'groundbreaking' work over the last 12 months and used the occasion to highlight its achievements to date.
The event, held at the Diplomat Hotel in Llanelli was attended by a wide range of key partners and stakeholders, including keynote speakers Dr Mike Shooter CBE and the Children's Commissioner for Wales Keith Towler. They both paid tribute to the importance of CYCA's work and the trust that families place in them to help them through a crisis.
The project, which is one of 26 funded through the BIG lottery's Improving Futures programme provides valuable early intervention support for families with parents suffering from low level mental health problems or learning disabilities, and manager Tracy Pike is delighted with the impact it has made so far, "This is a very proud day for the charity. We are only one of 4 projects operating in Wales and we are delighted with the progress and impact we have made so far. Over the next 3 years we are determined to offer an innovative and groundbreraking service tailored to the needs of Carmarthenshire's families, helping them to imporove their emotional health and wellbeing".
The event also saw the official launch of the project's innovative online 'gateway', where clients can access online support directly from the general information and media tools as well as speaking directly to a therapist or support worker through an online 'chat' facility or video link. The "Interactive Support Gateway" also received RDP Axis 4 Innovative Communities funding, which enabled officers to carry out indepth research throughout the county, ensuring the content is relevant to the local people's needs. A second research phase is due to be carried out over the summer months, before a marketing campign will be launched, promoting the 'gateway' across the County.
