Children's Commissioner for Wales 'blogs' about CYCA

Keith TowlerOne of the speakers at our recent CYCA Wales Limted launch event was the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Mr Keith Towler and after his visit he was keen to praise our work in his latest blog.....

"In my speech to the Carmarthen Youth and Children Association (CYCA) I pointed out the variations that exist across Wales in relation to the Leaving Care Grant. The young people present seized on the news that Carmarthenshire has the highest level of grant at £2327 with the lowest in Wales being just £700. It was great to hear Jake Morgan, Head of Children’s Services in Carmarthenshire, recognise how much the local authority depends on and values the partnership it has with the voluntary sector. Tracey Pike is the CYCA manager - she is a class act. The young people all really value the support they get from CYCA. Pete came along and he too was impressed with CYCA "particularly because the young people themselves were so appreciative of the support they got." Sometimes it's important to recognise that we are making progress even if there is still so much to achieve. A message we need to get right in my report on looked after children and young people."
