Our Fit 4 Fun project and and the fun events programme is officially underway, after a successful 'launch' during the recent Fit 4 Fun Festival on May 29th. Children and their familes came in their hundreds to the Antioch Centre in Llanelli where they got a taste of what to expect over the course of the project.
The project was formally launched by Jane Hutt AM Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning & Skills, who was joined by guest speakers Helen Mary Jones AM, Nia Griffiths MP and Mike Theodoulou from project funders the Big Lottery. The activities then got under way and the hundreds who attended had the opportunity to take part.
The Sports Hall was packed full of children getting active in many fun sports sessions, from Rugby coaching with the Scarlets to Dodgeball, Basketball and Kwik Cricket from the Dragon Sports Team.
In the Kids Kitchen, professional chef Hazel Thomas cooked up a great days worth of healthy demonstartions where children and their parents had the chance to make some tasty dishes, including fruit kebabs, healthy pizzas, tasty tortilla wraps, and a healthy and nutritious meatball dish.
The Dance Room was full throughout the day as children took part in street dance, Hip hop, hula and disco; and there was also some great entertainment in the form of Ash Randall - Wales' No 1 football freestyler, a Healthy Living Show, Face Painting and an Indoor Fun area. Children also had the chance to meet Fabian - our Fit 4 Fun Fruit Cocktail, who also took part in all the fun.
The event proved to be a major success and an excellent way to kick off the project.
