Families in Crisis is our Big Lottery funded project, which is running between May 2014-May 2017. Our objectives are to work with families from Llanelli, Ammanford and Carmarthen towns, offering a flexible support service to meet families needs. Our holistic approach includes valuing the impact of trauma and attachment difficulties, as well as the importance of family systems, developmental theory and positive psychology just to name a few. As a result, where possible we prefer to work with the whole family, as this gives us and the families the best chance to move forward. To date we have supported approximately 60 families and provided training for families and partner agencies to ensure joint up understanding and practice.
Support options include
Child and adult counselling
Through the support provided by the project we hope to
Increase resilience and coping skills (via stress management) within families
Help to prevent mental health complexities developing further
Develop community hubs to increase social opportunities and reduce isolation
Provide training for communities and professionals around relevant topics
