Our families well-being services involves providing therapeutic support using our 'well-being model', which focuses on trauma, attachments, stress and resiliency.
How the service works
Families are referred to us by agencies such as the local authority (Social Services, Children's Services, Corporate Parenting) Schools, Health Visitors, GPs, Home Start, or by the families themselves. The main reasons for the referrals are because families are struggling to cope as a result of experiencing trauma and/or loss, a family member (s) has a mental health problem, or a child or young person is demonstrating behavioural issues at home or in schools. Our experience shows that in most cases the families we work with are experiencing a combination of all of these factors.
Based on various criteria of the family, they are then signposted to one of our internal projects
Initial assessments are then carried out by the appropriate member of our team and from there we create a bespoke support package for families, where parental goals are set. These goals are achieved with the support of our Family Support Officers and link in with those set by the ‘Mentor-Child’ relationship, which ultimately helps achieve systemic life changing improvements for the whole family.
Each family also has access to our 'Interactive Support Gateway', which gives them online access to our team as well as 24 hour support through the downloadable information and self help tools.
If they do not meet the criteria for either project, we can offer a service if the referring agency is willing to pay for our intervention. Or, if we there is another external agency who can support the family, we then sign post them safely to another organisation.
