Youth Club

The Youth Club continues to be well supported by young people, primarily aged aged 11 – 14. There are currently some 38 young people registered with the club and the club has now been split into three nights, with specific activities or projects operating on a Monday and Wednesday, from 6.30pm – 8.00pm with Tuesday being a general youth club night from 7.00pm – 9.00pm, where young people can come to relax in a safe environment.

The Youth Club continues to forge an excellent partnership with Carmarthenshire County Youth Services, where activities such as Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Surfing and Five a Side Football have been offered over the Summer. CYCA also linked with the Youth Service to offer a StreetBall/Urban event, in Partnership with Communities First, facilitated by our Communities First Trainee, Libby Nock. The event was huge success, with DJ workshops, Breakdancing and Mc'ing on offer, together with a mini StreetBall tournament. It is now hoped that the winners of the StreetBall tournament can travel to London to play the Metropolitan Police.

The Club has been fortunate to secure funding of £8,333.00 from Communities @ One to undertake a digital media project, where young people can express their views through film, photographs, sound and animation. CYCA Youth workers have received training from Clase & Caemawr, a Swansea community group that has operated a similar project previously, and are now ready to begin the project Sept. 2007.
