Teddybears

The Teddybears Nursery has been in existence at CYCA since 1983 when it started as Rocking Horse in the mornings only and 15 years ago, the Nursery times were extended to cover the whole day.  The leaders are Dee Harrison and Sue David who are both well qualified and experienced.   Dee and Sue already have Childcare and Learning Development qualifications are working towards Level 4 Childcare and Learning Development; Welsh & Bilingualism and Signalong.

All of the Nursery staff are highly qualified and aim to provide a happy, stimulating and caring environment for the children to learn and develop through play.  Other staff are Cheryl Rees wih an NNEB Level 3 and is working towards her Early Years Degree.  Mark Elias is also working towards Level 3 Early Years.  Katie Rees currently has Early Years level 2 and Melissa Brocklesby and Luisa Davies both have a BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies.

The Teddybears Nursery provides 32 places broken up into two sessions: morning and afternoon.  Teddybears is registered with Care and Social standards Inspectorate of Wales and Estyn.  We like to work in partnership with parents, health visitors, Copperworks school and other professionals.

Our priority is to make each child and family feel welcome and valued from their first day onwards.  In order to do this we try and make the settling period as easy as possible for the child and parents/guardians.

Chidren and parents/guardians are invited to visit the Nursery and discuss how they would prefer to settle their child into Nursery, for example visit together for a week for short periods or visit together for one full session or visits with parents and the parent leaves for a short while.  Each child is individual so we will settle the child in according to their needs.

A keyworker will be assigned to your child who will monitor your child's needs and development.  The keyworker will also be the point of contact if you have any matters concerning your child's well-geing, development, health and behaviour.  They will keep your child's records up-to-dae and work in partnership with you looking for solutions in any problems that may occur.  They will also observe your child's development and learning and share their success with you and plan how your child can reach his/her full potential.

To provide quality care for the children, the staff ratios are 1:4 for 2-3 year olds and 1:8 for 3-4 year olds.

The sessions runs from 9.00am-11.30am and then 12.30-3.00pm at £5 per session.  However, if your child is 2 years old and you live in the Copperworks or Lakefield area and are in an eligible postcode, your child is enttitled to 121/2 of free childcare.  In the event of holidays or sickness, fees must still be paid.  If you are late collecting your child from Nursery, you will be charged £2 after the first ten minutes.  Our Nursery is open for 42 weeks a year, which is term time plus 3 weeks in the summer holidays.  We need to have a 5 days notice if you wish your child to stop attending the Nursery.
